1. Band 9 IELTS Speaking interview

Hello and welcome to this practice exam conducted by Study With
Aronno. My name is Aronno and I'm your practice examiner. These exam questions are designed to simulate the IELTS speaking test.

So let's begin. What is your full name?

-My name is Aniga Afrin. At the beginning of the IELTS test, you'd be required to provide an ID or a passport. But as this is just a practice exam, you don't need to provide any ID or passport.

Now in the first part of the test, I'm going to ask you some questions about yourself.

Do you consider yourself to be a tech savvy person?

-I would say that I consider myself to be a tech savvy person.I wouldn't say that I'm a geek or an expert in this field, but I think that I have adequate knowledge to work with machine or computers. And in this world, without being tech savvy, I think you're going to fall behind.

So yeah. What are some technological devices you use on a daily basis?

-I think the technological device that I use most is my mobile phone, because I use it to set my alarm. I use it to see the time, etc. Other devices that I use are my laptop and earphones.

How has technology changed the way people communicate with each other?

-I think there has been a massive change in the way people communicate with each other, because of technology. Because back in the days, you had to write letters to your friends or family and wait for two to three days, perhaps. But now with the advancement of technology, you can just reach your friend or family within one second. And it has also made the world much smaller.

Are there any technological innovations that you find particularly fascinating?

-Yes, I think the technological innovations that I find particularly fascinating is AI.Because the way AI can imitate human beings is quite interesting. Okay.

Do you think technological advancements have more positive or negative effects?

-I think that is a subjective question and it depends on how you're thinking about it.For example, if you want to be more productive, I think then AI is a very, very good tool for that. And I think, and if you consider about the overall purpose of human life, then I am not so sure.

Like, is it our purpose to be efficient?

-Okay. Thank you. This is the end of part one.

Now move on to part two. In this part I'm going to give you a topic and you have to talk about it for one or two minutes. Before you talk you'll have one minute to think about it.

You can take notes if you wish. Here's the pencil and the paper. Your time starts now. you Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, remember you have one or two minutes for this, so don't worry if I stop you, I'll tell you when the time is up.

Would you please start now?

-So the recent technological innovation that I find particularly interesting is artificial intelligence or AI. I think AI is a very interesting topic because it is something that we haven't seen before and AI gives machines the ability to perform human tasks.
Now the machines can think, which is quite fascinating. The machines can do creative work such as painting, filmmaking, etc. This is something we thought was exclusive to human beings, but it's not the truth anymore.
I think there are several benefits to this and there are several drawbacks as well because with the advancement of technology, many people are going to be unemployed. In the 1930s there was a term that was called technological employment, but I think we're going to see the opposite of that with AI.
Also there are several benefits of AI as well because I think AI permits human beings to become more efficient and it allows human beings to focus on things that are more important for the human race in general.
I think that's about it, about the benefits and drawbacks. And then I think I find this very interesting because this is something we haven't seen before and it is entirely new for the world. And there are going to be several changes because of this technology.
The world is going to completely change and it's going to face more challenges as well because of this. What I find more fascinating about this is the fact that AI can talk like human beings. It's like, I think language itself is a quite complicated thing.
But the way AI can imitate human beings, it's like, it's almost unrecognizable that if it's a human being or a machine that you're talking to. Okay, I have some follow -up questions for you. How do you think this technological innovation will evolve in the future?
In the future, I think AI is going to become more and more advanced. It's going to become smarter and smarter with time. The more we upload data on the internet, the more data it's going to have access to.
And I don't know, there might be a time when it's going to beat human beings. Are there any potential challenges or obstacles that this innovation might face? Yes, I think there may be some obstacles that AI might face because there is a question of ethics in here.
Many people are already questioning the fact that should AI be permitted to provide creative work because AI has been accused of stealing data from artists like artists' artwork and then copying it and reproducing it in a different manner.
So I think AI might face obstacles and people might not want to be able to do it. it to be there in the future. How does this technological innovation compare to the previous technologies? Well previously we used to do everything manually like humans had to be directly involved in a task and now what we have to do is write prompts for the AI basically.
So how accessible is this innovation to the general population? Well at the moment it is quite accessible to everyone for free however there are some advanced features which require payment. Thank you very much this is the end of part two may I have the pencil as the paper thank you very much.

3.Now move on to part three and I have several questions for you.

In what ways does technology influence the workplace and job market?

-I think there has been massive changes in the workplace and job market because of technology. For example, back in the days in the offices things were manual, people, we had to use pen and paper for everything, record keeping and stuff, but now we can use computers and meetings can be done using computers, so like the workplace has become much more technologically advanced. And about the job market, I think technology has created more jobs for people but at the same time, technology is also taking jobs away from people because it can be done by machines and people are not required in those places.

How do you think technological innovations have changed the way we travel?

-There has been a lot of changes in the ways we travel because of technological innovation. For example, back in the days, it would take, like people used to take ships to get from one continent to another continent and it would take months, but now we can just get from one continent to another continent in one or two days because of technology and airplanes.

Are there any potential drawbacks or negative impacts on relying heavily on technology?

-I think there are drawbacks and I would consider myself to be on the conservative side more when it comes to relying on technology because for example, right now the world runs on the internet.

If the internet was shut down, then the world would come to a stop and we wouldn't know what to do and it would affect the economy and every function of the world. How has technology transformed the field of education?

-I think there has been many changes in the field of education because of technology. For example, in the office, we had to use pen and paper in our schools and universities. We also had to use pen and paper.
and paper. But now the world is trying to be more eco -friendly and trying to go paperless. And at the same time, there has been an increasing amount of use of laptops, mobile phones for education and there has also been remote learning.
And an example of remote learning is Khan Academy, I think. Okay,

Do you think there are any ethical concerns related to the development and use of technology?

-Yes, I think there are many ethical concerns because with the increasing advancement of technology, like a human and a machine is becoming almost equal.
So like I also more and more information around the internet and like our lives are basically becoming public. And another thing that I am concerned about is that People make videos of their children and like posted on the internet and It's basically they're basically doing it without the consent of the kids and I don't think that's a very good thing I don't think that would have a very good impact on them.
I think technological advancements has also has a bad impact on mental health and It has also made the world very fast -paced as human beings We need to slow down sometimes and we're it's not we're not supposed to be in constant Touch and in constantly like communicate with one another But because of technology that has changed so I think there are drawbacks and ethical concerns about it Thank you, Annika.

This is the end of the speaking test. Thank you very much for joining us
